THE COMPANY

The company is a well-established, thriving manufacturer and distributor of electrical products, including wiring accessories, LED lighting, safety alarms and cables, incorporating the Deta, Brackenheath, Briticent, Vimark, Channel Safety Systems and Evolo brands. DETA’s products are specified by the major Housing Developers and are distributed through electrical wholesale, merchants and many DIY retailers. 

DETA continues to grow strongly and enjoys a UK turnover of more than £80m.

 

JOB SCOPE

The successful candidate will be required to meet the following functions and responsibilities: 

  • Develop electrical products in liaison with manufacturing partners, establishing product specifications, writing product briefs, determining applicable standards, and assessing samples. 

  • Testing and/or coordinating the external testing of products in development, investigating any product problems. 

  • Establishing product and packaging labelling and marking requirements including packaging labels, product instruction leaflets and data sheets. 

  • Collaborate with the Quality Team to investigate product problems, to report findings and manage product improvements with partner factories.  

  • Ensure products comply with relevant BS EN safety standards and directives including EMC, REACH and RoHS. 

  • Produce and maintain technical literature including product specifications, packaging specifications, instruction leaflets and data sheets. 

  • Maintain up to date technical support files, including WEEE and packaging weight data.  

 

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Educated in an Engineering discipline with an electrical or electronics bias.  

  • An appreciation of manufacturing processes, product standards and taking a quality approach to problem solving 

  • Able to identify product features and benefits. 

  • Knowledge of electrical product application and electrical installation, including work practices on building sites would be of benefit.  

  • Ideally, knowledge of British/European Standards and legislation that relates to products within DETA’s portfolio. 

  • Experience in collaborating with offshore factories remotely. 

  • Ideally, knowledge of IET Wiring Regulations 

  • Computer literate in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
